I Will Own 'Superman: Secret Origin' The Minute It Hits Trade. Period.

htbthomas , you are absolutely right and I will relish every moment of the damn thing. Everything I've seen so far is make of win. They even have the CHEMISTRY down in the book. This may be the first time in a decade that I've consistently liked anything comics related for Superman (stopped reading in the late 90s for good reason).

And God knows the art doesn't hurt. There's something very familiar about the OTP over there. ;)

A-Men. I am SO with you on the trade of Secret Origins and hope you consider the Elseworld "Last Family of Krypton" when it comes out in Trade (which shouldn't be more than a few months as it's only a three parter). I have been enjoying the artwork of that one and it thoughtfully pulls pieces of the movies in where it fits (I have decided that I am going to buy the comics of those straight from the comic shop for this one and contemplating whether or not I want the trade for continuous reading).

I have to say I really like the "overbright" and crisp work on the Secret Origins one as well even though some people seem to abhor it. I think it looks inviting in a way the current comics looks so dark.

I'm quite partial to "Birthright" as an origin story but I'll defo get Secret Origins as a trade. I was actually quite pouty at Secret Origins despite the Chris Reeves look BECAUSE it retconned Birthright so quickly. But who am I kidding; I'd've bought it eventually. ;)

I....actually wasn't a fan of Birthright. I didn't react well to the reboot at all at the time and some changes just let me cold. Which is likely the flip-side for you. Then again, let's not talk about me and Kingdom Come. I've told you, I'm weird about my comics. XD

Ooooh, Kingdom Come. I flip-flop about that soooo much. Sometimes I hate it, sometimes I love it; I know I love, love LOVE the art. My Lois!Muse screams like bloody hell at the idea of Clark & Diana getting together but at the same time, I also dislike the idea that there's a One True Love Whose Loss = Eternal Misery and the art is SO PRETTY and Batman pretty much kicked butt and CLARK'S GRIEF WAS SO GUH but ARGH! DIANA! and--

*sigh*

In conclusion, I will probably like Secret Origins once I give it a chance because I'm easy like that. ;)

I'm going to go the wimp route and just buy the trade if I can wait that long; I'm pretty sure I'll go nuts looking around for it issue by issue. Then again, I'm not the most patient reader in the world, either.

I give it two weeks if I get an issue of it before I get the trade, though. ;)

Oh God, let's not even look in the direction of my Lois!Muse. I won't be able to write for a week. She flees and sulks every time it's mentioned.

There's a lot I can't stand about Kingdom Come, a couple of things I adore, but I'm one of those types that are just evil enough to do my own spin on it and make it canon for my world. Don't say I didn't warn you. ;)

Is okay. I can usually love it even if they aren't a pairing. As long as he's single and not paired with someone I can't stand, I'm good. It's not like it couldn't happen later, off-screen. ;)

The Cloiser in my is exceedingly happyright nowaboutb "Last Family #2" but also going WTF??? When??? How???? It's a good thing you're getting the trade because then you won't have to have your mind going a mile a minute wondering how it happened when you should be reading stuff for Victorian Studies *scoffs*. Not that I don't love Victorian Studies but when you've just finished reading a comic book individually your mind goes in all sorts of directions other than where it should be. It definitely does wonders for creativity but is horrendous for focusing that creativity and deep thinking where it needs to go.

Sorry. For a moment with this comic I was thinking we wouldn't get to see Lois until the last comic or even see them together at all. Then about five pages to the end we see her and they way they're snarking at each other I was concerned that they weren't going to be together at ALL. They were sniping at each other and Lois comments to Jimmy (in regards to how they act with each other) "Woodward and Bernstein we're not" and I had a sinking impression that they weren't together then on the VERY last page we have an image of both of their press passes on a table along with his glasses and the very last one is of them cuddling in bed discussing his relationship with Jor-El.

Can you say Squee?

How's the artwork? I hate to say it, but if the art's not good, it might ruin it for me. I've had a lot of that lately.

It's not too bad honestly. I didn't care for the covers initially but they're growing on me. The interior artwork's pretty good too (but again this is just my opinion). The Color palatte isn't as bright as Secret Origin but it had a good balance of colors. I hate skewed color palattes (read- Birthright). Kal-El/Clark varies in look between Welling (in the pre-Superman part) and unknown (although one frame definitely was reminiscent of Reeve when he was angry about Lois' death although I somehow get the feeling that one as unintentional).

I have plans to give #2 a full review on my journal sometime next week when I have time.

Yep, I think I'll give this one a chance, too. I like that I'm actually finding stuff I like in the comics again. I don't expect it will last, but I'm lovin' the little tidbits while they last.
