Okay, anyone who knows me on here knows I'm an H/Hr girl. Nothing really against Ron and Ginny, but I really didn't love the DH epilogue. This isn't to say that the H/G and R/Hr shippers don't have a right to their pairings, but I just didn't find the ending realistic. That, again, is just me. It was written to give readers the ultimate happy ending.

My version that lives in my head goes differently. But that's it. It's fanfic. JK's world is JK's world. I just play in it.

So, again, H/Hr shipper. Not batshit, doesn't play in the Harmony sandbox on the 'net, but loves her ship like WOAH and DAYUM.

Now, that said, if I ever find this person, I'll string them up. Seriously. And this is why I don't play in the HP fandom. JUST...*pauses, then beats their ass* [livejournal.com profile] chickadilly, thanks for pointing out a fine example of what I'll never be. They just give us a bad name. JUST. SICK.

Hon, there's a huge difference between normal shipping and that person. Unfortunately (just like in SV fandom) the loudest are always the batshit ones.

I know you're not anything like that.

And dude, I love Ron/Hermione - it's my OTP of all OTPs and I didn't care for the epilogue so there ya are! :)

That icon his seriously HILARIOUS by the way. :D

I know, right? There's always got to be someone (or several someones) that have to stand up and make a group of people look bad. And the H/HR ship really does get it the worst. Why are so many of our people so obnoxious? *epic!headdesk of FAIL*

The EWE just tied things up too neatly. Now, if she had done this around the end of Book Three, maybe. But after DH? Too sweet and too perfect. Everyone gets a happy ending. Meh. You were so real with the rest of DH, why candy-coat the ending?

All [livejournal.com profile] babb_chronicles' fault on the icon. I think this is one of the more PC ones. I really need to put up more of the ones from [livejournal.com profile] iconzicons like this one. I have so many good ones. :D

God I love [livejournal.com profile] babb_chronicles - there are some seriously BAD fics in HP fandom. LOL

I think the problem with the epilogue - in my mind anyway - is that it's very jarring to go from all of that emotion of DH to the 'and they all lived happily ever after' feel of it without some sort of bridge for the reader to make the leap from one to the other. I also think there really needed to be some sort of memorial/funeral scene so the readers could say 'goodbye' to their favorite characters who died in DH. There needed to be some sort of closure there before making that leap to the 'happily ever after' of the epilogue.

I think people would still bitch about it if there had been something like that because HP fans sure do know how to bitch but for this reader that sure would have made the epilogue feel less jarring.

The other problem, again in my reading of it, is that it feels so obvious she wrote it back when she was first starting to write the entire series (I think she's confirmed this in an interview but it's been a while so don't quote me on that) and as such the style of DH goes from a style that is aimed for at least an older teenaged reader (as each book progresses so does her writing style) to one of a book aimed at children. It's also a jarring transition.

That said - I think she was more than likely a bit too close to the project and probably didn't really see that from a readers perspective. I can't fault her for that because all writers do this but I really think an editor should have realized the epilogue needed some sort of re-write.

But that's just my take on the whole thing. :)

THIS. That really is my major problem with it. The difference is really that obvious. I don't know what she was thinking. It just seemed like a lesser-grade of story-telling and tacked-on. :(

I don't know what she was thinking.

I just think she was too close to it to see it objectively. I blame her editor more than her, really, for not saying something to her. Maybe her editor didn't think of it as a problem but I think she/he should have! That's what professional editors are for after all!
