To me Lois' scenes were the only worthy ones on this episode, Zod coming close second, but the Tess/Lois scene...either it was Justin's directorial debut being not that good or editing taking vacation, there was something off about it.
But you're totally right: Erica owned it and I'm going to miss her Lois A LOT LOT LOT.
I think it may have been a case of making emotions run a little too high and also trying to give Lois the final push to be her current canon characterization when time is running out. They were trying to make her a little more hardcore than she's been [although she's been badass this whole time] to get her to the final stage before the end. And it was a little abrupt. But you know what? This close to the end, I'll take it.
That and you know my Lois. Need to get a better look at that gun, but my Lois yells "CANON!!!!"
