Despite the fact that I stopped being a regular over there for a long time and only in the last few months started posting there again, it was with shock and completely mixed emotions that I read this tonight.
Before LJ, before FF.net, little old me started out as a member of the website when it first transformed from a fan-film site to an actual full-fledged website. It was there that I got the guts to start writing my first Superman fanfic, it was there that I met a bunch of you for the first time, it was there that we all waited with baited breath for the first tiny spoilers for SR, it was there that we all discovered that Bryan Singer was reading the forums and was the reason that all our little in-jokes make it into the film. We were family there, albeit a dysfunctional one. So much good in what I know of the fandom came from my first year or so at BT.
It's the end of an era, my friends. And I'll never forget the memories. Thanks, Justin, for having given us this six years. It was an honor and a privilege to have been a part of it.

Date: 2010-03-23 06:07 am (UTC)I found BT.net when I first heard there would be a new Superman movie. I listened to every podcast Justin did, I watched all of Bryan Singers making of videos there. I was just so very excited about a new Superman movie, I couldn't get enough. My birthday is June 28, the day it came out in 2006. Guess what I did for my birthday that year :) After the movie I stayed on and got turned onto FF there as well. It was how I found out about you and some of your author friends. I think the very first story I ever read was Alphie's "In the shadow of my father", and "Being Jason White" on FF.net. After that I was hooked. I read a whole bunch of different authors and finally I found Kala Lane-Kent. With a name like that I was immediately intrigued and interested. I found out to my pleasant surprise how lucky I was. I've been reading your ff ever since. So, in closing, I would like to say: Thank you BT.net for enriching our lives and bringing "his" fans closer together :)

Date: 2010-03-23 08:07 pm (UTC)I just have so much history bound up in that place. Not all of it was good, but most of it was. And it's been there so long. I'm going to miss it something awful.
