RIP, Tom Mankiewicz

Not too many people within the new members of the fandom even knew who he was, but he was a briiliant and well-seasoned screen writer, a very warm and human man, and much loved by those within the Reeveverse Family. My condolences to to Margot, Dick, his family, and the many thousands of fans out there that knew his worth not only on Superman, but so many others. Mank, you were an inspiration I won't soon forget and the world is that much darker without your presence. I only wish I had had the chance to meet you. We, as a new generation of the fandom, didn't get the time with you we would have wished for.  We'll try to keep an eye out for Dick and Margot for you.

Rest in peace, sir. We of the Old Guard will miss you terribly.

Yes. Yes, he was. And funny? OMG, have you ever listened to the commentary track on STM? XD He and Dick were priceless together.

Chad was very upset by that news. He said without him the Superman movies wouldn't have been as awesome as they are. :(

Tell Chad I agree completely. As awesome as the cast was, it wouldn't have been half so without Dick and Mank. They really were the heart and soul of the RV films. It just seems unreal that the only members of that tight-knit little foursome left are Margot and Donner. :(

I just read this :-( very sad news indeed. We've lost another much loved member of the superman family. Times like this remind me how mortal we are, and how time has flown bysince SI hit the cinemas in '78. I couldn't even imagine at the ripe old age of 11 how this movie would change my life.

You my darling Lois are living proof there were other strange people on the world just like me. It wasn't until finding your site and the fabulous caped wonder site that I realized I was normal

*sniffle* It just murders me that, of the ones that were closest, it's just Dick and Margot now. It's so hard to believe that so many are gone. It just breaks my heart. Why does time march on so quickly? It doesn't seem like long ago that I finally found the online community and it's actually been about fifteen years. And I hear you at that. My mom thought it was a phase when I started around that age! XD

That means so much to me, you know? For years, I thought I was the only one, but to have you guys so interested does my heart good. Yes, the fandom moves forward, but no one should forget the past. And I was proud to take up this end of the fandom's job.

Now if I could just get enough time to update reeveverse on time! I wish I wasn't the only one posting.
